Tupelo " Robert A. Sandefur, 73, died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Community Hospice in Verona after an extended illness. A lifelong native of Tupelo, he was born October 26, 1934 to the late Troy and Jenny Mae White Sandefur. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved to watch television. He was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church and retired from Tupelo Water and Light.
Services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Lewis Bridges and Bro. Mike Sauvageot officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Elois Bedford Sandefur of Tupelo; two sons, David Sandefur and wife, Theresa and Danny Sandefur, all of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Carla Poole and husand, Keith, of Grapevine, Tex., Amy Trujillo and husband, Tim of Las Vegas, Nev., Neal Whitten and wife, Crystal of Tupelo, Mallory Kennedy and husband, Randy, of Mooreville and Nathan Hayse of Oxford; two great-grandchildren, Aidan Poole and Madeline Trujillo; one step-brother, Larry Fears.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Janie K. Hayes; his step-mother, Ruth Sandefur; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Sandefur
Pallbearers will be Neal Whitten, Randy Kennedy, Ron Vallarian, Mitch Robbins, Cecil Payne and Ron Huffman.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m Tuesday at the funeral home.
