Robert Lusby

Tupelo - Robert C. Lusby, Sr., 81, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A Monroe County native, he was born August 17, 1927 to Turner and Rauzie Clayton Lusby. He married Ann Lusby on August 2, 1947. He was a longtime farmer and owner of Tupelo Implement Company at Crosstown for more than 63 years. He was a hard worker and dedicated business man. He was known for his love for Jesus, his family, working with his son, Sonny Lusby, and his customers. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Joe Lusby and Rev. Scott Witcher officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ann Wilson Lusby of Tupelo; three sons, Robert (Sonny) Lusby, Jr. of Tupelo, Dr. Joe Lusby and wife, Patty, of Greenfield, Tenn., Jim Lusby and wife, Karla, of Saltillo; one daughter, Susan Ann Lusby; one brother, Floyd Lusby of Aberdeen; three sisters, Florence Rollins and Truma LaVoie, both of Amory, and Mable Bonds of Southhaven; five grandchildren, Clay Lusby, Kyle Lusby, Kayla Lusby, Kristen Lusby, and Annie Grace Lusby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruby McAndliss; and a brother, James Lusby.

Pallbearers will be his nephews

Honorary Pallbearers will be Robbie Brazil, J.C. Rogers and the Men's Friendship Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009 at the funeral home.
