Nettleton ? Robert Wesley Holcomb, Jr., 89, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Darlington Oaks in Verona. A Mississippi native, he was born May 12, 1923 to the late Robert Wesley and Francis Cooper Holcomb. He was a farmer and a carpenter. He was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar, hunting, spending time outdoors and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the Air Force.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Bobby Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Plantersville.
Survivors include his daughter, Dolores Raper (Larry) of Nettleton; two grandchildren, Jason Raper (Michelle) and Wesley Raper of Nettleton; one sister, Flossie Monts of Plantersville; five great-grandchildren, Paige, Maddie and Reid Raper, Haley and Jordan Bishop; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993, Mona Holcomb; his parents; two brothers, Birdell and Delmer Holcomb; four sisters, Nola Berryman, Grey Collier, Carrie Kelly and Farrah Monts.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Raper, Jordan Bishop, , Hugh Holcomb, Benton and J. B. Berryman and Bob Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles and Bobby Collier, Tim, Terry and Jerry Hallmark, Mike Parker, and Jason Raper.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the funeral home.
