Robert L. Harris

ROBERT L. HARRISTupelo - Robert Lynn Harris, 98, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017, at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born January 24, 1919, to Robert Sadler and Mary Eliza Staten Harris. He joined the Navy at the age of 18 and retired after 20 years of service. Robert received multiple medals during his service to his country. Robert married his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Brown of Irving, Texas, and they were married until her passing on July 25, 1986. While in Texas he worked for the Federal Housing Authority as a liaison until his second retirement; after which, he moved back to Tupelo to be close to his family. He was married to Maxine Ray Miller of Prentiss County until her passing in 2010. Robert enjoyed walking everyday and working in the yard until his health prevented him from doing so. He loved to read history and mystery novels, especially by Robert Parker and to watch Old Westerns.
