Saltillo ? ?Ed? Lesley, 96, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Sanctuary Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born February 28, 1918, the youngest child of Griffin and Icia Lesley. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Saltillo. He worked for Futorian Manufacturing Company as a truck driver and ran bush hog and bulldozing services for the public until age 88. He served two terms as a Saltillo Alderman and was a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed gardening, raising goats, horses, pigs and dogs. Ed loved fishing with his most-loved, life-long buddy Donald Monaghan. He never met a stranger. He loved watching the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Braves.

Services will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Home with Tim Green officiating and Sammy Lansdale commenting. Burial will be at Saltillo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 until service on Tuesday.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie L. Lesley (Beverly) and Griffin G. Lesley (Tammy); one daughter-in-law, Patricia Anglin Stanford; four grandsons, Rob Lesley (Leeann), Donnie Lesley, Jr. (Melissa), Ricky Stanford and Kenny Stanford (Mary); five granddaughters, Sonya Lesley Beard (Hank), Sherry Lesley Brown (Mike), Marilyn Stanford Davenport (Chuck), Cindy Stanford Carr and Allison Stanford Webb (Larry); 22 great grandchildren; 13 great, great grandchildren; and one great, great, great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Ira Mae Akin Lesley; his father and mother, Griffin and Icia Lesley; a brother, Oscar Lesley; two sisters, Lucile McCarter and Pearl Shuttles and a stepson, Jimmy Nash Stanford.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Stanford, Kenny Stanford, Jason Dozier, Paul Wayne Bradley, Mike Akin and Bobby Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be his caregivers at Saltillo Assisted Living and Sanctuary Hospice.
