RICKY L. PRESLEY
Palmetto - Ricky Lane Presley, 51, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at his residence in the Palmetto Community after a sudden illness. A Lee County native, he was born September 13, 1954. He was a 1972 graduate of Shannon High School, and then went on to Mississippi State University where he graduated in 1976. He was employed with Purnell's Pride for 17 years and worked in forklift sales over 10 years, most of which was with Barlow World. He was known for his love of his family and church. He also enjoyed working on his cattle farm and dealing with antique cars. He served on the Board of Directors for Farm Bureau. He was a dedicated member of Palmetto United Methodist Church where he taught an adult Sunday School Class for over 30 years.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Don Sparks, Rev. Buddy Smith, and Rev. Raymond Rooney officiating. Burial will be in Palmetto Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of over 30 years, Julia Yancey Presley of Palmetto; two children, Lance Presley and wife, Jarra, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Maria Presley of Birmingham, Ala; his parents, James and Kathleen Williams of Palmetto; one brother, Bruce Williams and wife, Joanna of Palmetto; one sister, Debbie Mackey and husband, James of Tupelo; one brother-in-law, Thomas Yancey and his wife, Vickie, of Jackson, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Jean Harden and husband, Malcolm, of Tupelo; his nieces and nephews, Joe and Anna Williams of Palmetto, Tracey Easter, of Starkville, Drew and Mallory Yancey of Jackson, Tenn., and Heath Harden of Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Hankins, Jerry Hutchinson, Charles Wade, Lowery Jones, Charles Griffin, and Greg Hester.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of Palmetto United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and will continue Thursday from 11 a.m. until service
