Ricky Gale "Deerhunter" Burleson, 59, died Saturday, May 4, 2019, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Glendale, Arizona April 19, 1960, to Bobby "Ben" and Geneva L. Gale Burleson, but has called Pontotoc home for most of his life. For 20 years, he worked as an over the road driver with J&B Trucking before he had to stop working due to a his decline in health. Ricky enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors. He loved spending time with his family friends and especially doted over his grandchildren. He was a member of the Fulton United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Penny Hynum (Rob) of Greenville, Maria Barnard (Nathan) of Pontotoc and Kristalyn Cain (Thomas) of New Albany; two sons, Brandon Holcolmb of Pontotoc and Keaston Holcomb (Katy) of New Albany; eleven grandchildren, Haley Moore, Coby Shiers, Tyler Boyd, Alyssa Stegall, Haden Hynum, Eli Barnard, Carrson Barnard, Kimree Cain, Charlee Rose Holcomb, Sutton Cain and Jace Cain; two sisters, Melinda Thrasher (Steve) of Fulton and Liz Gunter (Heather) of Tupelo; brother, Billy Burleson (Vicki) of Mantachie; and his best friend, Linda Gail Burleson of Pontotoc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Geneva Burleson; three sisters, Charlotte Roper, Cathy Lindsey and Gena Clapper; and brother, Bobby Burleson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2019, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring his life will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2019, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues. Burial will be in Boguefala Cemetery.
