Saltillo- Richard Delma Whaley, III, 63, passed away after a sudden illness on November 26, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born August 17, 1959 to Richard D. Whaley, Jr. and Barbara Shaw Whaley in Corpus Christi, Texas while his father was stationed there in the Navy. He was a 1977 Potts Camp High School graduate. On August 31, 1990, he married Anita Jean Spencer, during their 32 year marriage they enjoyed traveling and spending time together. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Richard was a genuine man that could do anything in his professional life. He was a welder, plumber, electrician, and a jack-of-all-trades. He was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church, and part of their Sunday morning singing group after being scouted out by the music minister. He was active in his family’s lives and enjoyed playing disc golf with his son and participating in his grandchildren’s lives.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Whaley of Saltillo; mother, Barbara Whaley of Potts Camp; two children, Doug Whaley and his wife, Julie, of Saltillo and Ramona Kinney and her husband, Chris, of Iuka; four grandchildren, Nolan and Savanna Whaley and Ella Grace and Griffin Kinney; two sisters, Leslie Stanton of Potts Camp, Laura Davis and her husband, Mike, of Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, David Whaley and his wife, Cindy, of Blue Mountain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard D. Whaley, Jr.; brother, Darryl Whaley; granddaughter, Destiny Tucker; and niece, Emily Grubbs.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Friday, December 2, 2022 at Sandy Springs Baptist Church in Fulton.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2022 at Sandy Springs Baptist Church, Fulton with Bro. Kevin Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Springs Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Prentice Brown, Mark Roberts, Michael Patterson, Tyler Weathers, Jimmy Spencer, and Wesley Spencer.
