RICHARD SANDERFORD Olive Branch - Richard Sanderford, 60, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013, at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born to Richard Fred and Opal Perkins Sanderford on April 28, 1953, in Lee County. A 1972 graduate of Tupelo High School, he resided in Olive Branch for the past twenty-one years. He served as the general manager for Anderson News Publishing Co. for forty years. An avid Ole Miss fan, he enjoyed reading, watching NASCAR and old westerns. A devoted family man, he loved and cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandsons, who his world revolved around. He attended Cedar View Baptist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher for thirty-five years. A celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Joe Caldwell and Dr. George Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Carol Sanderford of Olive Branch; two sons, Ricky Sanderford (Amanda) of Mooreville and Stoney Sanderford of Olive Branch; three step-sons, Tommy Beasley (Faye) of Verona, Billy Beasley (Cathy) of Mooreville and Jimmy Beasley of Pontotoc; three grandsons, Blake Sanderford (Elizabeth) of Tupelo and Austin Sanderford and Daniel Sanderford both of Mooreville; ten step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol McVay of Tupelo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, P.K. Sanderford and his two children, Sandra Kay and Dewayne Powell; one brother-in-law, David McVay. Pallbearers will be Blake Sanderford, Austin Sanderford, Tommy Beasley, Jr. , Matthew Beasley, Phillip Willis and Ben Beasley. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason McVay and Daniel Sanderford. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Society, 1900 Dunbarton Drive, Suite 1, Jackson, MS 39216 or a charity of your choice honoring the veterans of the United States.
