Rebecca Roberts

May 18, 1932 — September 23, 2013

REBECCA ROBERTS Rebecca Roberts, 81-years-old, while surrounded by the warm love of her family passed quietly onto her next life with God on Monday September 23, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. Even though she had a full, long life it just did not seem long enough to her loved ones around her. Even up to her final days here on earth she lived a happy and busy life. Spending the majority of her time doing what she loved; taking care of her great grand babies, reading several books per week, working in the garden, going shopping, enjoying a good fry and coke, and continuing to bond and grow close to her family. She had been a religious, kind, and giving person throughout her life. She would never even hesitate to give a person her last dollar. She, like many, had many trials and life lessons she had learned in her life, and come toward the end of her life you could see they were lessons well learned through her genuine kindness. She had stated many times that when God was ready to take her she would be ready to take his hand and follow. We thank God for not allowing her to suffer by letting her continue to live the life she enjoyed up until a few days before her passing. Though we still miss her everyday very dearly. Rebecca was born May 18, 1932, in Dorsey, Mississippi to William Alvin and Annie Verona McCarty. She was the ninth of twelve children. Her siblings that have already preceded her in death are Eva Blanton, Eron Brown, Velra (Sammie) Hankins, Elton McCarty, Otha McCarty, Pauline Cauthern, Imogene Berlason, Jo Kenneth Mccarty and Kay Frances Roberts. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Cline Roberts as well as her beloved son, Jerry Beasley. Rebecca is survived by her daughter, Cathy Hatfield and son-in- law, Malcolm Hatfield. As well as her grandchildren, Curtis Hatfield, Sara Hatfield, Maxwell Yankson, Jerry Jr. Beasley, and Jeremy Hatfield. She was also lucky enough to enjoy her great grandchildren, Leila Yankson, Noah Yankson, Shelby Beasley, Hannah Hatfield, Jordan Hatfield, and Hayden Hatfield as well as her sweet, loving sisters Annie Ruth Kitchen and Wyvee Mcdonald. The visitation will be held at W.E. Pegues Funeral Home, 535 W. Jefferson St. Tupelo, Mississippi, 38804, on Monday October 7, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., and then services will follow at 1:00 p.m. The burial will follow services and will be at Keys Cemetery in Fulton.
