Reba Harmon

Brandon--Reba Jo Monaghan Harmon, 81, died at home on June 22, 2011 surrounded by her family, after a long illness. Reba was born March 5, 1930 in Ballardsville, Mississippi, daughter of Marvin and Lena Monaghan. She graduated as class valedictorian of Mooreville High School in 1948. She was a long-time resident of Jackson and retired as Office Manager of Home Life Insurance in June of 1992. Following retirement she served with St. Dominic Hospital volunteer services in the critical care waiting room. A committed Christian, Reba was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church until moving her membership to Brandon First United Methodist upon relocating to Brandon in 2003. Her favorite pastimes were cooking and entertaining, playing bridge, gardening, and spending time with family. Reba is best remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and gracious host.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park

She is survived by sons Stuart Sanders and wife, Diana, of Brandon, MS, Clark Sanders of Asheville, NC, stepdaughter Susie Hays of Brandon, and grandchildren Rebecca Butler, Steven Sanders, Lisa Sanders, Matthew Sanders, Shelly Abernathy, and Casey Gaia. She is also survived by siblings Eloine Turner, Shirley Chism, and Wayne Monaghan of Tupelo.

Reba was preceded in death by her husband, E.D. Harmon in 2008.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
