Tupelo - Rene C. Macklin, 49, died Friday, November 7, 2008, at her residence after a lengthy illness. A native of Wilmington, Delaware, she was born March 9, 1959 to Ernst and Gertrude Tomic. She had been a resident of the Tupelo area for the past twelve years. She was a teachers assistant at Church Street Elementary School and was a staunch supporter of the Tupelo Public School System serving as PTO President and board member of AEE. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was involved in numerous childrens ministries and activities, including Vacation Bible School and Sunday School.
A celebration of life service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Sudduth and Rev. Raigan Miskelly officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Rex Macklin of Tupelo; two daughters, Rachel and Riley Macklin of the home; one brother, Ed Oceanic of Maryland; and her mother-in-law, Fran Terrill.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will follow the memorial service on Tuesday in Wesley Hall.
