RAY STEPHENSON
Belden - Ray Vance Stephenson, 75, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at his residence after a sudden illness. A Lee County native, he was born January 21, 1931 to the late Vernon Vance and Carrie Miller Stephenson. He was a 1949 graduate of Belden High School and then attended Itawamba Junior College. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was retired from the Lee County Extension Service after 25 years of service and enjoyed antique and classic cars which he restored. He loved his famiy and friends, and touched many lives. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Belden Baptist Church.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Mr. Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Belden Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Frances Stephenson of Belden; two sons, Van Stephenson of Belden, and Richard Stephenson and wife, Lavonna; two grandchildren, James and Rachel Stephenson, all of Scottsdale, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Stephenson and Bruce Stephenson; one sister-in-law, Margaret Stephenson; and an infant brother.
Pallbearers will be James Estes,Buddy Gortney, Tony White, Wayne Hughes, Richard Twitty, and Ronny Brown
Paul Clayton will serve as honoarary pallbearer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
