Randy Edward Davenport, 62, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born July 15, 1955, to Newell Edward Davenport and Mildred Van Buskirk. Randy was a 1973 graduate of Tupelo High School and a lifelong resident of Lee County. Early in life, he was an air traffic controller at Columbus Air Force Base while he served in the United States Air Force. He had also worked at Borden's Ice Cream, Hancock Fabrics and most recently, Plumrose. On August 19, 1990, he married Janice Dabbs Davenport. Randy was a social person and enjoyed being in the company of friends. He was a loving father and found great joy in spending special time with his granddaughters. He also loved his pets, LuLu and Roxie. He was a member of Priceville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Davenport; two sons, Chris Davenport of Memphis, Tennessee and Chad Davenport of Tupelo; one brother, Billy Van Davenport of McGee; one sister, Barbara Evans and her husband, Billy of Plantersville; and two granddaughters, Ava and Cassidy Davenport of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Gloria Cunningham and Judy Carolyn Davenport.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 11a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Will Rambo officiating. Graveside service will be in Priceville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Ryan, Robin Hood, Heath McArthur, Kevin Greenhill, Evan Ellis, Brad Dabbs, Brad Evans, Chris Reed and Jeff Erwin.
