Saltillo - R. D. Homer, 81, died Monday, July 18, 2011, at Graceland Care Center in New Albany. He was born in Saltillo on June 18, 1930 to Ed and Gracie Dunaway Homer. He was a life-long Saltillo resident. He worked many years as a roofer with Abernathy and Clark. He was Church of Christ.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. James Adam Miller officiating. Burial will be in Euclatubba Cemetery.
Survivors include three sisters, Lucille Homer, Genell Lester, Earline Thrasher; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Bobby Homer; two sisters, Pauline Bell and Agnes Wheeler.
Pallbearers will be Danny Dunaway, Johnathan Raines, John Ellward, Guy Dunaway, Ricky Jackson and Allen Jackson.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the funeral home.
