Quitman Bert Hester Sr.
MANTACHIE - Quitman Bert Hester Sr., 72, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness. A Saltillo native, he was born June 23, 1934, to the late Carl Lee and Addie Raines Hester. He was a member of Verona Pentecostal Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. John McAlister and the Rev. Danny Pitts officiating. Burial will be in the Shannon Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Virginia Tackett Hester of Mantachie; two daughters, Mary White and Martha Davis, both of Pontotoc; two sons, Quitman Bert Hester Jr. (Linda) of Mantachie and Gary Hester (Tina) of Tupelo; four brothers, Billy Hester (Fay) of Nettleton, Robert Hester, James Hester and Floyd Hester (Beth), all of Topeka, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Rena Hester of Shannon; 12 grandchildren, Bert, Corey, Steven, Bridgette, Alisha, Heather, David, Chris, Joey, Timothy, Dwayne and Jonathan; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters and brothers, Sadie Price, Winford, MC, Jim, Louis Ray, Fredrick and Charlie Hester.
Pallbearers will be David and Danny Hester, Matthew and Monroe Tackett, Robert, Bruce, Bobby and Billy McCullough.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
