PRENTISS EDWARD HARVEY Saltillo - Prentiss Edward Harvey, 81, died Saturday, November 29, 2014, surrounded by his wife, Carol, and family. He was born January 15, 1933, in Rankin County to the late Roy Jefferson and Alma Harvey. Prentiss attended Puckett High School. Upon completion, he joined the Air Force where he served for 4 years stationed in Alaska. Later, Prentiss attended Southern Mississippi University and joined Southern Bell, later Bellsouth, as a lineman. He progressed through BellSouth, retiring as a Regional Manager after 43 years. Prentiss was a leader in the community, with much of his time being dedicated to the local Parks and Recreation Department, the Telephone Pioneers, and to Harrisburg Baptist Church. He has a baseball field named after him on Mitchell Road in Tupelo. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Tupelo Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Prentiss is survived by his wife, Carol Jean Harvey of Tupelo; four children, Eddy Harvey of Tupelo, Cindy Snipes (Matt) of Nettleton , Prent Harvey of Atlanta, GA, and Mike Harvey (Shannon) of Fayetteville, AR; 10 grandchildren, Heather Lane Ross, Matthew Alexander Snipes, Breanna Nicole Snipes, Katelyn Shea Snipes, Elizabeth Carol Harvey, Luke Radney Harvey, Margaret Hollis Harvey, Riley Renee Harvey, Natalie Grace Harvey, and Griffin Prentiss Harvey; 3 great-grandchildren, Austin Cole Ross, Jennifer Marley Helms, and Colton Gage White. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Harvey; sister, Lucille May. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2014, at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.
