Phyllis Sloan

October 24, 1946 — April 7, 2023

Tupelo – Phyllis Kidd Sloan, 76, a lifelong resident of Tupelo, passed away peacefully Friday, April 7, 2023 at Traceway Manor Community in Tupelo after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth Smith Sager and Charles P. Kidd, USMC. She spent her entire working career in the insurance industry and retired from Trentice Imbler State Farm Insurance Agency on N. Gloster St. Phyllis was a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church in Tupelo.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her adored husband Tommy Ray Sloan and her precious son Brad Sloan, her two brothers Mike Helms and Scott Helms and her brother-in-law Phil Christensen.
She is survived by her sons Charles (Bo) Sloan and wife Holly of Ethel, Arkansas and Jonathan Sloan of Tupelo. She is also survived by her sisters Paula Helms Hagerty and husband Jim of Boston, Mass., Rosemary Cathcart of New Zealand and sister-in-law Billie Faye Sloan Christensen of Farmington, Utah. Additional surviving relatives include Sloan Christensen of Arizona and Shannon Christensen of Utah, Brian Hagerty of Boston, Mass., Joshua Helms of McKinney, Texas and James Helms of San Ramon, Calif. A small graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Oak Grove Cemetery in the Ratliff Community of Mantachie, MS with Rev. Andy Dozier presiding.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana.
