Tupelo - Phillip M. "Phil" Griffin, 72, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at Sanctuary Hospice House after a short illness. He was born January 17, 1943, to Paul W. Griffin and Martha Jack Burt Griffin and was raised in Houlka. Phil built power lines for transmission and distribution throughout the United States and retired in sales with Electrical Suppliers. He professed a deep love for his Lord and Savior and maintained a servants heart in both his church and community. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Plantersville where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon. Phil loved his wife, Mary, of 50 years, family, and many friends. He was an avid coon hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Mary Huffman Griffin; his children, Lynn Griffin Keith (Wade) of Mooreville and Lee Griffin (Suzi) of Amory; two brothers, Roger Griffin (Delores) and Jackie Griffin both of Houlka; and two grandchildren, Will Keith (Lindsey) of Tupelo and Katelyn Keith of Mooreville. Pallbearers will be Corey Franks, Burt Griffin, Allen Estes, Bill West, Bucky Mason, and Jamie Dunaway. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church, Plantersville and members of the Couples I Sunday school class.
