Peggy Eckard

Belden- Peggy Jo Eckard passed away August 6, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born in Newton, North Carolina to Odell and Helen Pauline York Stokes. Peggy was an affectionate housewife and mother. Peggy had a passion for dining and traveling with a group of special friends. She especially loved Scotland and Switzerland. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Tupelo where she served on the Altar Guild.
Survivors include her best friend and husband of 58 years, Dalthard Eckard; one son, Dax McRee Eckard and his wife, Beth of Belden; one sister, Paula Walker of Oak Island, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Massie Eckard and Addison McRee Eckard; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special group of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Barbara Robinson; and two brothers, Odell "Butch" Stokes, Jr., and Terry Stokes.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, Tupelo.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
