Pearl Robbins Wiley Tupelo - Pearl Elizabeth Robbins Wiley passed away at home on September 18, 2015, after a short illness. She was born June 3, 1924, to Alvie Vernon Robbins and Lera Knox Robbins in Ingomar, MS, delivered by her grandfather. She graduated Salutatorian from Hickory Flat High School in 1942 and attended Mississippi State College for Women. On July 1, 1944, she married Thomas Lamar Wiley. They lived in Starkville, Alexandria, LA, and Jackson, before settling in Tupelo in 1956, where Tom became a partner in Comfort Engineering Company, Inc. An active member of First Baptist Church, Tupelo, Mrs. Pearl was recently recognized for 55 years of service in the church library. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, served as the nursery coordinator, and was active in WMU. Mrs. Pearl was a Red Cross Gray Lady volunteer at NMMC for over 40 years, retiring at the age of 85. She also volunteered at the Lee County Baptist Food Bank, at her children's schools, as a Cub Scout leader, and as a Girl Scout leader. She is survived by her children, Linda Bowlin (Dr. John) of Tupelo, Dr. Thomas L. Wiley, Jr. (Merrie) of Jackson, Lera Triplett (Palmer) of Tupelo, Ellen White (Steve) of Tupelo, and daughter-in-law Debbie Wiley of Tupelo; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Bowlin Nagel of Grapevine, TX, Joseph Bowlin of Aurora, CO, David Wiley of Pasadena, CA, Betsy Wiley Reese of McKinney, TX, Julie Wiley Davis of New Hope, MS, Elisha Triplett Matvay of Springfield, VA, Michael Triplett of Fairhope, AL, Matt Wiley, Katherine Wiley Dendy, Preston Wiley, all of Tupelo, John White of Olive Branch, David White of Jackson, Ben White of Tupelo, granddaughter-in-law, Laurie Wiley Hunt of Olive Branch; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Bowlin and Jane Taylor (Don), both of Hickory Flat, and Jean Butler of Arkadelphia, AR; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; a son, Bob Wiley, on September 6, 2015; grandsons, John Wesley Bowlin in 1975, and Thomas Lamar Wiley, III in 2001; one brother, William Knox "Pete" Robbins, and one sister, Louise Hunter Surrett. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 21, at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church, Tupelo. Visitation will be Sunday, September 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo and one hour prior to service time at the church.
