Plantersville - Paulene Mae Dunaway, 82, died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born March 5, 1926 to the late Beland and Flora Mae Bell Dill. She was a homemaker and took care of her grandchildren. Her kindness and maternal instincts touched the lives of many and she will be greatly missed.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Mr. Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Smith and husband, Paul, of Plantersville and Wanda Richardson and finace, Bobby Gillentine of Richmond; one son, Larry Don Dunaway and wife, Sherry, of Nettleton; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Laura Turner and husband, Joe, of Saltillo, Myrtle Lindsey and husband, Arthur of Verona, and Linda Ridgeway and husband, Billy, of Verona, and Arlene Strickland of Plantersville; one brother, James Dill and wife, Linda, of Saltillo; her caregivers Vickie and Tommy Holcomb of Auburn; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leonard Wesson Dunaway, her parents, a son, Lee Dunaway, three brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Gary Landrum.
