PAUL H. PERKINS

Tupelo - Paul Hershel Perkins, 95, died Monday, June 19, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A Belden native, he was born July 25, 1910 to the late Perry Luther and Willie Mize Perkins. He worked as a line foreman for the Tennessee Valley Authority and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Union for 70 years. An avid quail hunter and fisherman, he was also a member of the Tombigbee Indian Good Sams Camping Club. He will also be remembered for his skill and craftsmanship in woodworking. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as deacon emeritus and was very active in church, association, and state level Bible Drills.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Bryant Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Ellis Smith, and husband, Rev. William P. Smith, III; two grandchildren, Paul McDougal Smith and wife, Beth and Catherine S. Cagle and husband, Scott; two great-granddaughters, Mary Preston Evers and Isabella Smith, all of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Kathleen McDougal Perkins, who passed away Dec. 28, 2001; three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Paul Smith, Scott Cagle, Pat Nunnelee, Keith Reese, Jerry McKee, and Gill Simmons.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Fishers of Men Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church and members of the Tombigbee Indian Good Sams Camping Club.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and from 10 a.m to 11 a.m. at the church Wednesday.
