Tupelo--Paul King Cook, age 86, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Lee County Paul was born February 26, 1936 to Marvin Cook and Audrey Cook Knapp. He was a 1953 graduate of Tupelo High School and served in the Mississippi National Guard. Paul was a member of First Baptist Church of Tupelo. He loved being outside whether hunting, fishing, or playing golf. He loved his family and cherished each moment he spent with them.
Paul leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Maude Dean Cook; two sons, Michael Cook and Craig Cook (Mary), all of Tupelo; grandchildren, Shawndra Rogers (Damon), Natalie Cook, Jereamie Cook (Sheryl), Preston Cook, Parker, Kinsly, and Britain Burleson; great-grandchildren, Britten Rogers, Brina Rogers, Presley Cook, Peyton Cook, and Perry Cook; a brother, Butch Cook; brother-in-law, Dan Christian (Betty); and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Lynn Cook; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Cook; his sister and her husband, Gloria and Bill Caldwell; and a sister-in-law, Dot Cook.
Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo. Services honoring Paul’s life will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Matt Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Preston Cook, Britten Rogers, Jereamie Cook, Todd Caldwell, Jeff Caldwell, and Butch Cook.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
