Cason Community - William Paul Hester, 85, went on to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Diversicare in Tupelo. He was born in Pontotoc County, February 3, 1934, to Gurvis and Viola Worthy Hester but was a life-long resident of the Nettleton area. On September 7, 1957, he married Martha Edwards. Early in life, he worked as a share cropper and later worked 45 years as a roofer for Abernathy and Clark. Paul loved to garden and spend time with his grandchildren. He was known as the "prankster" and enjoyed making people laugh. He was a life-long member of Nettleton Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife of almost 62 years, Martha Marie Hester; five children, Donna Brown and her husband, Charles of Smithville, Sheila Tidwell of Saltillo, Larry Hester and his wife, Suzanne of Nettleton, Dickie Hester and his wife, Toni of Nettleton and Terry Hester and his wife, Donnyell of Hatley; ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gurvis and Viola Hester; five sisters; and four brothers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time, Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Nettleton Pentecostal Church.
Services honoring his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Nettleton Pentecostal Church with Rev. Larry Davis, Rev. Jordan Davis and Rev. Chris McCord officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Brown, Kevin Hester, Dyllen Hester, Levi Hester, Butch Edwards and Billy Edwards.
