PAUL G. BURT Tupelo - Paul G. Burt, 61, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at his residence after an extended illness. An Itawamba County native, he was born February 26, 1953, to Stacy and Ina Violene Moore Burt. He grew up in Hatley and graduated from Hatley High School and later Mississippi State University. Earlier in his life he taught at Aberdeen High School for ten years before going into the Insurance business for a number of years. In 1992, Paul started in the automotive business at MidSouth Nissan where he later became general manager. He remained in the auto sales profession until becoming disabled in 2011. Public visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at W.E. Pegues in Saltillo. In honor of his request, there will be no formal funeral or memorial services. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors will be in charge of the arrangements. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Becky Burt of Tupelo; one son, Jason Burt of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; one step-daughter, Shuna Cruber (Dale "Poppy" Cruber) of Nettleton; one step-son, Shane Dickerson (Teresa) of Hatley; one sister, Peggy Gray of Hamilton, Alabama; two brothers, Tommy Burt (Betty) of Hatley and Johnny Burt (Margie) of Smithville; one grandson, Tyler Burt of Amory; his mother-in-law, Dorothy (Mom) Hall of Saltillo; six step-grandchildren, Blake Evans, Dakota Cruber and Cameron Cruber all of Nettleton, Alix Wright and Austin Wright both of Hatley and Kaylyn Evans of Nettleton who was also his special caregiver. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Steve Hall. In leiu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
