Tupelo - Patti Hudson, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Pontotoc County January 24, 1937, to Hubert and Modine Franklin Branham. She grew up in Smithville and graduated from Smithville High School before attending Itawamba Junior College in Fulton. Early in life, she worked as a bookkeeper for Sears, Roebuck and Company in Memphis, Tennessee where she met and married Charles R. "Dicky" Hudson and together had two sons. After twelve years, her family moved to Tupelo and she helped open the Tupelo Woolco Store in the old Downtown Mall where she worked as a bookkeeper until they closed. After Woolco closed, she worked at the Mitchell Center in the Traceway Retirement Community until her retirement. Patti found great joy in tending to her many plants. She also loved animals and was absolutely crazy about her cat, Chaly. She was a longtime member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Charles R. "Dicky" Hudson of Tupelo; two sons, Ricky Hudson and his wife, Amanda of Chalybeate and Mark Hudson and his wife, Lea of Tupelo; one brother, Billy Branham of Smithville; two sisters, Jerri Nash and Sue Nix both of Smithville; and five grandchildren, Chase, Jake, Callie, Patton and Sam Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Charlotte.
Visitation will be from 12 until 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors, Tupelo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Rob Garland officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in the Chalybeate Community.
Pallbearers will be Sam Hudson, Patton Hudson, Ryan Hudson, Jake Hudson, Alan Nix and Phillip Branham.
