Tremont - Patricia Ann Stackhouse, 71, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Peru, Il., she was born May 31, 1936 to Roy and Catherine Brough Stackhouse. At the age of 12 she moved to Trussville, Ala. and graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School. She then went on to Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham where she earned her associates degree. She served four years in the U.S. Marine Corp where she worked at the Pentegon and was named Female Marine of the Year. A longtime resident of Tuscaloosa, she worked as an administrative assistant for Bryce Hospital with mentally ill patients, retiring in 1995 after 28 years of service. She was responsible for writing the instructional program used by the hospital for training those who care for the mentally ill. She enjoyed doting over her grandchildren and following her son-in-law's coaching career with the Tupelo High School baseball program. She was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Lay Ecclesial Minister Jerry Woods officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include her daughter, Cathy Ramay Enis and husband, Gary, of Tupelo; three sisters, Rowena Lee and husband, William, of Birmingham, Ala., Debbie Todd and husband, Chris, of Huntsville, Ala., and Mary Doganiero and husband, Dr. Frank Doganerio, of Gardendale, Ala.; two brothers, Joseph Stackhouse and wife, Maryann, of Knoxville, Tenn. and John Stackhouse and wife, Jane, of Belleview, Neb.; and two grandchildren, Kevin Ramay and Garrett Enis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Elaine Creger and Ruth Smith.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
