OPAL EARLENE THRASHER
Guntown – Opal Earlene Thrasher longtime resident of Guntown, 88, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born July 20, 1928 to Edward and Gracie Lenora Dunaway Homer. On June 23, 1952 she married Alton Edward “Jack” Thrasher and they were married until his passing. During her working life she worked at Play Craft, Guntown Slacks and Tupelo Manufacturing until her retirement. Earlene enjoyed her soap operas especially “Days of Our Lives”. She loved visiting with her family and having company over to her home. She was a member of Mayfield Church of Christ.
Survivors include her children, Janie Nichols of Saltillo, Jackie Thrasher (Debbie) of Saltillo and Jerry Thrasher of Guntown; sisters, Lucille Homer and Genelle Lester; four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Bobby and R.D. Homer and sisters, Pauline Bell and Agnes Wheeler.
Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 at W. E. Pegues, Saltillo.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery.
