OPAL GREGORY MORGAN Tupelo - Opal Gregory Morgan, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014. A Lee County native, she was born June 24, 1923, to William Hugh and Mary Edna Whitaker Gregory. She worked for Milam, Hunter-Sadler and H.I.S. as a factory worker before becoming the secretary of Shannon Middle School for five years. Later she served Mooreville Elementary School as the teacher's assistant for ten years. Her favorite hobbies were traveling, attending car races and watching T.V. Her greatest joys were singing, listening to gospel music and most especially, spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. A member of Mooreville Methodist Church, she served as the song leader for fifteen years. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Joe Lawson, Bro. Robert McCoy and Bro. Sammy Washburn officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband of seventy-two years, Clyde Morgan of Tupelo; two daughters, Jane Patterson (Carl) of the Auburn Community and Teresa Easley (Bob) of Tupelo; one grandson, Mitch Patterson (Laurie); two granddaughters, Amy Brownlee (Jeff) and Amanda Sewell (Ryan); one step-grandson, Bobby Easley (Stephanie); four great-grandchildren, Seth Patterson, Kyle Patterson, Jared Brownlee and Maggie Brooke Brownlee; one step-great-grandchild, Greyson Easley and a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia and Arvis Gillentine. She was preceded in death by one infant son; her parents; one grandson, Matthew Easley; three sisters, Lucille Cryder, Victoria Wages and Christine Reese and three brothers, Vernon Gregory, OJ Gregory and Anderson Gregory. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Hugh Gregory, Mac Gregory, Andy Gregory, Neal Gregory, Kenneth Gregory, Bert Gregory and Randy Pearce. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Jenkins, Dan Ballard and Rick Pearce. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
