OPAL CURTIS Belden - Opal Fern Curtis, 89, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Fulton native, she was born April 27, 1924, to Wiley and Ora Penny Rae Morse. In 1937 she married John Riley Curtis. For many years, she worked as a nurses' aide at the Fulton Hospital. Then later, she worked as a seamstress at Rosetto's Clothing Manufacturing Company, from which she retired. She was an avid reader, a NASCAR fan and loved playing bingo. She was Baptist by faith. Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Terry Pierce and the Rev. David Lann officiating. Burial will be in Keys Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, John Curtis (Annis) of Belden and Steve Curtis (Sandra) of Plantersville; nine grandchildren, Jeff Curtis, Stephanie Clippard, Allison Sudduth, Jackie Presley, Cindy Hawkins, Rodney Curtis, Sonia Rios, Michael Helms and Machelle Brodrick; great-grandchildren, Candace, Ariel, Mandy, Derek, Megan, Kaylee, Derek, Lyndsey, Kayla, Cherish, Brittini, Jason, Cody, Mackenzie and Erica; several great-great-grandchildren; three cousins, Ray Blyth, Beth Hodges and Evell Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Riley Curtis; seven children, Clifton Curtis, Sandra Helms, Jerry Curtis, JoAnn Curtis, Danny Curtis and twins, Robby and Bobby Curtis; one grandson, Michael; two half brothers, Bruce Morse and Son Morse; three half sisters, Chatty Ridings, Corrine Spradling and Floy Lesley; and one step sister, Grace Spradling. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society, 2400 South Gloster, Tupelo, MS 38801.
