Tupelo - Olera Anderson Waldrip, 92, died Friday, August 21, 2009, at The Simerson Green House at Traceway after an extended illness. A Lafayette Co. native, she was born January 26, 1917 to Jessie and Martha Hyde Anderson. She was a 1936 graduate of Yocona High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Millington, Tenn and WMU Ruths Circle where she had made her home since 1951. She was the widow of Byron Waldrip who preceded her in death April 11, 1982. She was retired from Wal-mart. She lived in Tupelo at Traceway for the past ten years. She was a loving mother, and devoted wife and dear sister. She enjoyed flower gardening, crochet and all other needle crafts.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2009 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. David Langerfeld officiating. Burial will be in Laodicea Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Layfayette Springs.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Waldrip (Janie) of Tupelo and Rodney Waldrip (Barbara) of Holdrege, NE; her sister-in-law, Mary Waldrip Thompson; grandchildren, Suzy Simpson (Alex) of Brentwood, Tenn. and Chris Waldrip (Stacey) and Shona Waldrip, all of Atlanta, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Colin Waldrip and Owen Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; sisters, Doris Hill, Jessie Kate Mize; her brother Alvis Anderson; and a granddaughter, Wendi Waldrip.
Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to service time Sunday at the funeral home.
