Olene V. Bell

Skyline " Olene V. Bell, 83, died Thursday, October 23, 2008, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a lengthy illness. An Itawamba County native, she was born December 31, 1924 to Richard and Effie Rogers Hood. She lived in Mooreville and Skyline since 1959. She married Reggie Bell November 19, 1939. He preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage April 27, 1990. The owner of Bell's Ceramic Shop in Tupelo from 1973 to 1990, she also taught ceramic classes and did craft shows in Memphis, Oxford, and the surrounding areas. She was a faithful member of her church, Tupelo Church of God of Prophecy, attending most Sunday's even after suffering a stroke. A kind and loving person, she was a wonderful cook, seamstress, and mother.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Marvis Bostick, Sr. and Rev. Curtis Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Ann Bell of Tupelo; three sons, James William "Red" Bell of Tupelo, Benson Reggie Bell of Ridgeland, and Jimmy Bell and wife, Donna, of Tupelo; three sisters, Rader Keith and Lorene Montgomery, both of Mooreville, and Odell Franks of Verona; two brothers, Richard Eugene Hood and Wayne Hood, both of Tupelo; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Hood of Fulton and Louise Bell of Skyline; five grandchildren, Misty Riley and husband, John, of Brewer, Emilee Johnson and husband, Brian, Ashlee Bell, and Keary Bell, all of Ridgeland, and Keith Bell of Tupelo; six great-grandchildren, Alisha Bell, Hanna Claire Johnson, Cooper and Jack Riley, and Tanner and Noah Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Rupel Grimes; and one brother, Haskel Hood.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Montgomery, Richard Hood, Lynn Rogers, John Riley, Brian Johnson, and Jeremy Martin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Bostick and Joel Ewing.

Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to service time at the church.
