Odelle Wood Heard
TUPELO - Odelle Wood Heard, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at the Traceway Retirement Center Green Houses after a long illness. She was born in Itawamba County to Etnis Hale and Lena Humfress Hale. She was a retired longtime employee of the Bank of Mississippi in Fulton and a retired receptionist for the North Mississippi Medical Center Women's Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo. Before moving to Tupelo, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church at Dorsey. She was a member of the Tupelo Christian Women's Club. She was a true Christian lady with much charm.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Keyes Cemetery in Itawamba County. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors of Tupelo is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Jan Wood Lancaster of Tupelo; one sister, Dorothy Lawhon of Tupelo; one grandchild, Kelsey Lauren McKenzie (Rob) of Fort Worth, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Hudson Kennedy and Rivers McKenzie, both of Fort Worth, and Dustin Leather of Jackson; one niece, Sally Wallace of Tupelo; one nephew, L.K. Lawhon of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hershel A. Wood and Frank Heard; her parents; three brothers, Ovis Hale, Olen Hale and Venice Hale; and a sister, Sue Nell Hale.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
