Norvell Smith

April 23, 1923 — December 27, 2008

Tupelo - Norvell Aubrey Smith, 85, died Saturday, December 27,2008 at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee county native, he was born April 10, 1923 to Charlie Harrison and Minnie McKinney Smith. He served in the U. S Navy in WW II. He was a member of the East Heights Baptist Church where he served in the choir and brotherhood. He worked for Bell South for 29 years and retired from Wells Fargo after 11 years. He was a member of the DA V and Telephone Pioneers.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 30,2008 at Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Kermit Brann officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Irene Bouchillon Smith of Tupelo; one son, Michael Lee Smith of Carthage, Mississippi: two grandsons Jason Smith (Kim) of Sebring, Florida and Brad Smith of Los Angeles, California; two great grandchildren Mackenzie and Conner Smith of Sebring; two brothers Virgil L Smith (Mary) and Gordon Smith (Ann) both of Mooreville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother , Cecil McCleer; two sisters Ruby Edwards and Charlene Martin.

Pallbearers will be Steve, David and Matthew Parker, Jamie Buochillon, Johnnie Simmons and Lerland Kindt.

Visitation will be 5 -8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
