TUPELO - Nolen "Todd" Nanney, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Itawamba County to the late Will and Rubie Wilburn Nanney. He graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the owner of East Main Laundry Mat and Car Wash, and operated the laundry mat for many years. He was also a used car dealer for many years. He served as alderman for Ward 5 from 1985 to 1989. He was a Mason for over 50 years, achieving the 32nd degree Scottish Rite. He was also a Shriner. He was a faithful member of St. Mark United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Donny Riley, the Rev. Glen Wiygul and the Rev. Smith Whiteside officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Christine Taylor Nanney of Tupelo; one son, Steve Nanney (Patti) of Bellaire, Texas; one sister, Faye Wiginton (James) of Prentiss; three brothers, J.B. Nanney (Ann), and Bobby Nanney (Moziese), both of Tupelo, and Verel "Buck" Nanney of Fulton; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Nanney of Pontotoc and Evelyn Nanney of Tupelo; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Hoyle, Douglas and Rex Nanney; a sister, Sedera Loden; two sisters-in-law, Imogene and Evie Nanney; and one brother-in-law, Elvie Loden.

Pallbearers will be Mike Bass, Joe Hillhouse, Gailord Loden, Randy Taylor, Joe Savery, Ben Simons and Bobby Canup.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Bruce, Charles Elliff, George Lyons, Allen Wilson and members of St. Mark United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 153 Elvis Presley Drive, Tupelo, MS 38804; or a charity of the donor's choice.
