Brewer - Nellie Dale Tate Dye, 93, died Monday, December 6, 2010, at Cedars Heathcare Center after an extended illness. A Brewer Community native and longtime resident, she was born February 5, 1917, to John and Pearl Russell Tate. She graduated from Shannon High School and then attended a business school in Verona. She worked for Rockwell International, Delta Trousers in Okolona, but most of her working life was spent as a nurse's assistant in the nursery at North Mississippi Medical Center. After retirement, she sat with the elderly. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening, reading and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Her family remembers her as remarkable woman with an independant spirit, a keen sense of humor and resoursefulness. She was dearly loved by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Brewer United Methodist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Keith Wiseman officiating. Burial will be in Brewer Cemetery.

Survivors include three children, Dale Dye Grubbs and Joe Dye and wife, Diane, all of Brewer and Sue Frederick and her husband, Bill, who took care of her for many years and saw to her every wish; 12 grandchildren, Sherry Gibson (Bill), Danny Grubbs, Tammy Inmon (Ricky), Linda McBrayer (Steve), Tera Ellis, Sonya Collier (Barker), Bill Frederick Jr. (Anita), Lisa Dye, Holland Dye (Kim), James Dye (Lisa), Priscilla Young (Jeff), and Brent Cox (Shawn); 25 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Dye of Saltillo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Deual Dye who died April 13, 1991; a son, James Tate Dye; two granddaughters, Kim Dye and Misty Cox; two sisters and three brothers; her daughter-in-law, Glinda Dye; her son-in-law, Doc Grubbs.

Pallbearers will be Clay Collier, Holland Dye, James Dye, Brent Cox, Bill Frederick Jr., and Steve McBrayer

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Grubbs, Ricky Inmon, Bill Gibson, Tyler Ellis, Brandon Inmon, Barker Collier, Chance Collier, Josh Grubbs, and Noah Cox.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
