Nell Green

November 12, 1925 — September 7, 2010

Nettleton - Nell Green, 84, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at The Meadows in Fulton, after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born November 12, 1925 to Benjamin and Lula Mills Cathcart. She worked over 40 years for Reed Manufacturing in Nettleton, retiring as assistant plant manager. In her earlier years, she enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, caring for her pets, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Limestone Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. David Brooks officiating. Burial will be in New Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Magers (Woody) of Nettleton, Linda Gibson (Ronnie) of Nettleton, and Debbie Ivy (Mike) of Tupelo; her son, Larry Green (Merle) of Nettleton; her sister, Peggy Gray of Smithville; three brothers, Cyril Lee (Bo) Cathcart (Faye) of Lebanon, Tenn., Glen Cathcart (JoNell) of Gallatin, Tenn., and Benny (Max) Cathcart (Mary) of Michigan; three sisters-in-law, Chloie Sullivan of Nettleton, Carolyn Cathcart of Kenner, La., and Mary Ann Cathcart of California; two brothers-in-law, Dan Green of Nettleton and Bobby Patterson of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Michael Green (Terri), Lauren Green, Kevin Magers (Katie), Chad Magers (Christy), Clint Gibson (Maaika), Cliff Gibson (Marla), Heather Gibson, and Erika Ivy; ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Green who died in 2001; her daughter, Brenda Patterson McClellan; two sisters, Bonnie Patterson and Wilodene Thorn; and two brothers Rex Cathcart and Gwen Cathcart.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Magers, Chad Magers, Michael Green, Clint Gibson, Cliff Gibson, and Charles Smith.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
