Naomi Lee

September 7, 1929 — May 6, 2018

Surrounded by her family singing hymns and songs of praise, Naomi Ruth Parmer Lee left this earthly home for her heavenly home on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Naomi was born in Marion County, Alabama on September 9, 1929 to Andrew A. and Altha Knight Parmer. Her family moved to Tupelo shortly after her birth. She was a longtime faithful member of East Heights Baptist Church where she served in various ministries of the church until the decline of her health in 2017. Naomi and her husband, Charles  enjoyed RVing and traveling the United States. Upon retirement they were able to fulfill a dream and calling from God to do mission work as they traveled.  As part of Campers on Mission, they helped build churches and pastor's homes in the United States and Mexico; cleanup and rebuild after disasters such as Katrina and using her love of sewing, Naomi made clothes and blankets for the women and children on Mexico. She and Charles were also members of the local Tombigbee Indians Good Sam Club.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 42 years, Charles Thomas Lee; a son, Paul T. Lee (Deborah) of Brandon; two daughters, Sandra Spees of Saltillo and Gayla Allen (Joe) of Tupelo; grandchildren, Cathy Spees Oglesby (Mike) of Mobile, Alabama, Shane Spees (Parker) of Tupelo, Andrea Allen of Tupelo, Kim Allen Powell of Mooreville, Michelle Allen Lansdell (John David) of Golden, P.J. Lee (Brandi) of Jackson and Kristen Lee King (Jehu) of New Braunfels, Texas; great-grandchildren, Courtney Oglesby Peak (Andrew) and Kayla Oglesby Smith (Michael) of Mobile, Chelsea Mott of California, Joseph Mott and Britany Carnathan of Mooreville, McKenna Allen and Lily Allen of Tupelo, Reed Goodsen and Braxton Lansdell of Golden, Addy Parker Spees and Michael Spees of Tupelo, Rivers Lee of Jackson and Molly King of New Braunfels. She is also survived by six great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elsie Parmer of Tupelo; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Lee of Columbus.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Grady Parmer, Madie Burrow Carroll, Lalar Cook, Velma Gay Byrd, Vera Earnest, Herman Les Parmer, Nell Beasley Lowery; and a son-in-law Mike Spees.

A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Tim Brown and Rev. Paul Lee officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of East Heights Baptist Church, 205 Lake Street, Tupelo, MS 38804.
