NANCY H. "GRAN" GRISSOM
Tupelo - Nancy H. "Gran" Grissom, 89 passed away Monday November 16, 2015, at her Traceway Manor residence after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. A lifelong resident of Lee County, she was born March 23, 1926 in Baldwyn to the late Loyd and Ethel Wood Heflin. In 1955, she began a lifelong career as a deputy clerk with the Lee County Chancery Clerks office under the late John A. "Red" Rasberry. During her 44 years of public service, she made many friends who she considered family. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Parkway Baptist Church for more than 42 years. Her church family was a major part of her life. She was a kind, dedicated and Godly woman and she instilled great Christian values in her family that will live on for generations to come. Her gentle smile, always kind words and always prompt Christmas cards will be missed by all that knew her.
Services will be Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkway Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Scopel officiating and eulogy by Mr. Jerry Clayton. Burial will be in Baldwyn Masonic Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters; Linda King of Okolona, and Jeanne Roberson of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Ty King (Gidget) of Fredericksburg, Va., Kim Fellows (Chris) of McKinney, Tex., Nicholas Roberson of Marion, Ark., and Landon Roberson of Tupelo; great grandchildren Paige, Morgan and Ben King, T.J., Jake and Cayden Fellows, Emily Roberson, Mathew Liverett and Scout Roberson; sister-in-law Waurene Heflin of Tupelo, several very special nieces and nephews and special friend Jane White.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Charles, Loyd Jr., and Robert Heflin, one sister Tootsie McVey, sisters -n-law Edith Heflin and Eugenia Grissom, one brother-in-law Basil McVey.
Pallbearers will be Bill Benson, Ronnie Bell, Jonathan Chaney, Jamie Bishop, Nicholas Roberson and Landon Roberson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her great nephews, Jerry Clayton, Robert Herring and her beloved Sunday school class at Parkway.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 12-2 Thursday at the church.
