Tupelo " Myron K. Bernitz, 72, died Friday, December 25, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A Eudora, Kansas native, he was born June 20, 1937 to Arthur and Pearl Strobel Bernitz. He was raised in Eudora and was a 1959 graduate of the University of Kansas. He was a plant engineer with Dyno Nobel where he retired after 36 years. In 1999, he left retirement, to begin working with Home Depot where he organized and managed the Kids Workshop program. He was an active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Donny Riley officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Eudora.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Virginia Bernitz; six children, Carl Bernitz, Lisa Graves (Steven), Chris Bernitz, June Holmes (Roy), Tim Hughes and Wade Hughes (Donna); two granddaughters, Laura Ladd Graves and Mary Kate Graves; one grandson, Tristan Price; nephew, David Allen (Mellissa).
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patty Minor, and a sister, Wanda Allen.
Visitation will be 9 - 11 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 at the funeral home.
