Tupelo - Sgt. 1st Class Murray Doc Warren Retired, 84, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Graceland Care Center (New Albany) after a short illness. A Pontotoc County native, he was born April 13, 1926 to Joseph E. and Mary Emma Harrison Warren and lived all his life in Tupelo. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War Conflict. He then served in the Army National Guard. One of the things he loved to do was spending time in his garden and especially loved his flowers. He enjoyed his special time spent with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, T.V. Land, and the Daily News. He also loved to shop at Walmart, which he did most everyday. He was a member of South Green Baptist Church.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Brewer Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Kathleen Warren of Tupelo; one son, Kenny Warren of Shannon; two daughters, Ceynia (Cindy)Pleasant of Tupelo, and Deb Pickens (Ricky) of Shannon; one sister, Faye McLaughlin (Carl) of Ecru; six grandchildren, Kellie Howell (Russ), B. J. Warren, Emily Long, Chuck Warren, (Amber), Lance Pickens all of Shannon, and Derrian Jade Pruitt of Tupelo; and eleven great-grandchildren. .
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Maurice Warren; and one sister, Hazel Brown.
Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Warren, Chuck Warren, Russ Howell, Michael Long, Larry Vance, Lance Pickens, and Roger Brown.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
