Murle Kitchen

Tupelo - Murle Vernon Kitchen, 82, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Creekside Manor in Saltillo after an extended illness. On February 17, 1936, he was born to Richard Alvin Kitchen and Vernie May Lessel Kitchen in Tupelo. He married Nina Ruth Shirley on December 6, 1991. He proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard. Murle was employed in the food industry his entire working career including the Department of Child Nutrition for the State of Mississippi, Quality Foods, Conco Foodservice, Kraft Foodservice, Purnell's Pride, Inc. and Gile Frozen Foods. He also owned Family Freezer and The Company Store in Tupelo. Murle was known as a workaholic and he loved working outside tending to his yard. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his pets.  He was a member of East Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Kitchen of Tupelo; sons, Tim Kitchen and friend, Suzie, of Iuka, Bob Kitchen and his wife, Suzette, of Plantersville and Steve Kitchen and his wife, Cindy, of Plantersville and his children, Kayla Grose and her husband, Cody, and her son, Rylan and Myranda Catledge and her husband, Jalan, of Tupelo and his step-children, Morgan Smithey of Fulton and her children, Allie Reece and John Baylor and Molly Smithey of Tupelo; step-children, Cindy Griffin and her husband, Ray, of Front Royal, Virginia and her children, Stevie and Brandon Griffin, Gaston Huckaby of Saltillo, Garrod Huckaby and his wife, Kim, of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and his son, Blake Snow and Joe Huckaby and his wife, Mary, of Guntown and his children, Ian Huckaby and his wife, Anna, of Saltillo and son, Liam, Brian Huckaby, Brianna Huckaby and Jillian Huckaby all of the home; sisters, Betty Jo Young of Tupelo and Dorothy Jean Kettleman of Richland; brother, Charles Kitchen and his wife, Margaret, of Saltillo; and special friend the family wants to thank, Kim Mask.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Kitchen and Vernie Kitchen; brothers, Farell Kitchen and Travis Kitchen; sisters, Nona Wayne Houston and Mildred Gore; and the mother of his sons, Myra Lynn Kitchen.

Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Friday, January 18, 2019 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Boss, Bill White, Billy Johnson, Jalan Catledge, Cody Grose, Ian Huckaby and Brian Huckaby.

Honorary pallbearers will be his East Heights Baptist Church Sunday School Class.
