Brewer - Mozell M. West, 89, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at the Floy Dyer Manor in Houston after a brief illness. A Prentiss County native, she was born June 21, 1920, to Carl and Bertha George Hare. She had lived in the Brewer community for many years. She was retired from Reed Manufacturing after 30 years of service, then went back to work at Lee Sportswear. She loved sewing, cooking, reading, and working with her flowers. She also enjoyed attending the senior citizens center in Verona. She was a member of Brewer Baptist Church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Glyn Wiygul officiating. Burial will be in Brewer Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Harold West (Linda) of Houston; two daughters, Ann Francis (Wallace) of Fulton and Sue Rock (Jackie) of Mooreville; one sister, Estelle Dodds of Booneville; nine grandchildren, Mike Reynolds (Christy) of Red Bay, Ala., Donald Reynolds of Burnsville, Suzanne Miller of Mooreville, Kay Langley of Pearl, Anna Thames of Fulton, Tommy Francis of Greenwood, Bill West (Anna) of Shannon, Brad Murphy of Mooreville, and Lindsay Stone (Mark) of Houston; and 14 great-grandchildren..
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Hassell West who died July 17, 1979; her sister, Eudell Phillips; her brothers, Eugene Hare, Lenard Hare, Ervin Hare, and Edward Hare.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
