Morris Herring

MORRIS L. HERRING

Tupelo - Morris Lynn Herring, 48, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, he was born June 18, 1958 to Edward M. and Jean Roberts Herring. He was a 1976 graduate of Tupelo High School and a 1980 graduate of The University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Business Administration. While at Ole Miss he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Early in his career he co-owned with his father, brother, and brother-in-law, Professional Systems, Inc. in Tupelo. Afterwards, he began his own company, Independent Business Machines, which he later sold in 2005 to Toshiba. He enjoyed golf, and was an avid Ole Miss Fan. He was active in his son's youth sports teams. He enjoyed hunting and watersports. He was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining his family and friends. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. David Langerfeld officiating. Alan Bank will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Merritt Lee Bank Herring of Tupelo; one daughter, Elizabeth "Eliza Hope Herring; two sons, Skyler Alan Herring and Wyatt Bank Herring, both of the home; his parents, Edward M. and Jean Herring of Tupelo; one sister, Vonda Peters and her husband, Jerry, of Saltillo; one brother, Phillip Herring of Tupelo; his father and mother-in-law, Alan and Marilynne Bank of Tupelo; two sisters-in-law, Avery Bank of New York City, and Hilary Bank of West Palm Beach, Florida; two nephews, Mark Peters of Tupelo, Troy Peters of Saltillo; two nieces, Katie and Megan Herring both of Tupelo..

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Woody and Linda Roberts, Troy Herring and Mary Pannell..

Pallbearers will be Tom Causey, Troy Whitenton, Jay Asters, Eddy Harvey, Tim Cockrell, Andy Robison, and Derrick Howell.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
