Saltillo- Mitchell Sanders, 84, died Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Courtyard Community Living Center in Fulton. He was born August 28, 1932, in Iuka, Mississippi to Joe D. and Mattie Sanders. Mitchell was a truck driver by trade and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Tupelo. He loved to spend his days fishing and spending time with grandchildren. Mitchell was married to his loving wife Shirley Russell Sanders for 47 years.He is survived by his wife Shirley Russell Sanders; four sons, Junior Sanders (Vickie) of Guntown, Terry Sanders (Lisa) of Saltillo, Tim Tackett (Brenda) of Saltillo, James Sanders (Melissa) of Guntown; three daughters, Brenda Payne of Saltillo, Vickie Lansdell (Dale) of Nettelton, Tina Whaley (Johnny) of Tupelo; one brother, John Sanders of Tupelo; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe D. and Mattie Sanders; his first wife, Eva Lou Sanders; four brothers, Dewey Sanders, Joe Pittman, Carl Sanders, Tom Sanders; one sister, Jean Dill; one grandson; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter.Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Dale Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Mayfield Cemetery.Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brandon Sanders, Mark Gillespie, Avery Lansdell, Ryan Sanders, Greg Sanders, Chris Sanders, William Felks and Jamie Langley.Honorary pallbearers will Toby Lansdell, Richard Lansdell, Josh Whaley, Jacob Whaley and Jeremy Sanders.Visitation will be Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 3 until 6 p.m. at W.
