MIRTIE PARKER Tupelo - Mirtie Irene Steele Parker, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday night, August 7, 2013. She was born in Fulton on November 13, 1917, to Charlie and Pearlie Steele. November 7, 1937, she married Jasper Cleburn Parker. She was an amazing homemaker and retired from Blue Bell in the early 1980's. After retirement, she babysat her grandchildren and great-grandchildren over the years and was a huge influence in their lives. Mammaw loved and nurtured all her children, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. She blessed us more than we could ever have dreamed. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Eggville Free Will Baptist Church. Mammaw, as she was affectionately called by all those who knew her, was a Godly woman. She taught us all so much about life an how to live the life that God blessed us with to the fullest and to honor God in all that we did. She loved the great outdoors and took so much pride in her vegetable and flower garden. She loved quilting. She blessed us all by making us quilts sewn with her own hands and she donated quilts for church fund raisers. She loved and supported her church in every way and dearly loved and thoroughly enjoyed her trips with the Senior Saints each month. A celebration of her life will be 1 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Eggville Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Gerald Gann officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include one daughter, Betty Parker Byrd of Eggville; one son, Jasper Cleburn "J. C. " Parker, Jr. (Peggy) of Plantersville; one daughter-in-law, Libbie Parker of Tupelo; six grandsons, Gary Byrd (Sandy) Chris Byrd (Sondra, Tracy Byrd (Tina), Jason Parker (Tiffany) all of Eggville, Bobby Parker of New Jersey and Billy Parker of New York; one granddaughter, Amanda Muir (Jerry) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; thirteen great-grandchildren, Candace Beane (John David) of Peppertown, Kelsey Watson (Zachary) of Brookhaven, Brandon Byrd (Kelly) of Mantachie, Matthew Byrd of Eggville, Lori Beth Ellis (Trey) of Mooreville, Kacey Byrd, Christopher and Conner Enlow all of Eggville, Joseph Muir and Katie Muir both of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Andrew Jasper "A. J." Parker of Eggville and Jacquelyn and Kayla Parker of New York; one great-great-grandson, John Tyler Beane of Peppertown; one sister, Daphne Stevens of Fulton. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 36 years, Jasper Cleburn Parker in 1973; four brothers, Albert, Relder, and Melvin Steele and a newborn brother; one sister, Martha Parker; one son, Bill Parker; one grandson, William Parker. Pallbearers will be John David Beane, Zachary Watson, Brandon Byrd, Trey Ellis, Jerry and Joseph Muir. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Byrd, Christopher and Conner Enlow, Andrew Jasper "A. J." Parker and John Tyler Beane. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2013 and 12 noon to service time Saturday at the church.
