Minnie L. “Peggy” Ivy, 99, of Tupelo went home to be with her Lord on 7/8/24. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she passed away at peace at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. Minnie was born on January 13, 1925 in Mantachie, Ms. to her parents Hollis Murphy and Alice Murphy and spent her childhood in Mantachie before moving to Tupelo. Minnie spent several years in Central America with husband Erskine and son Jimmy after Erskine had returned from World War ll and began a logging and timber business in Nicaragua. After returning from Nicaragua she assisted in the family business, E.M. Ivy Supply feed and fence located on East Main St. in Tupelo. She was a full time homemaker and always involved in her son’s activities, including scouts and den mother, school activities and sports. She was a longtime member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Tupelo. Later in life Minnie attended First Baptist Church in Tupelo with family.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Murphy from Tupelo; sisters, Obera and Eunice; brothers, Vincent and Hollis Jr.; and her husband of fifty eight years, Erskine M. Ivy. She is survived by sons, Jimmy and Mike and wife Debbie; grandchildren Erika Thompson (Jack), Amy Lewis (Justin) and Cody Ivy, great grandchildren Jase West, Jet Lewis, Hudson, Olivia and Lewis Thompson.
Visitation will be 9 until 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Pegues, Tupelo. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Tupelo Memorial Park. Pastor Ricky Young will officiate and Pegues Funeral Directors has been entrusted with arrangements.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Manor on Lawndale and the staff and residents who Minnie got to know as friends and like family which made her feel special. Also we would like to thank Sanctuary Hospice who was so accommodating and caring and giving to help her last days be comfortable, beneficial, and with meaning. Thank you.
