MILDRED HANKINS SCOTT
Mooreville - MILDRED BEATRICE HANKINS SCOTT, 83, died Sunday, September 30, 2007, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Saltillo native, she was born May 28, 1924 to the late Elbert and Rosie Bell Miles Towery. She was a published author and poet, and an avid gardener. Other tallents included quilting, crocheting, embroidery, and doll making. She was a member of Enon Primitive Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a friend to all. She loved her church and her God.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Elder Bobby Howell and Elder John Moseley officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mantachie.
Survivors include four daughters, Jo Ann Belk, of Hernando, Evelyn Rogers of Saltillo, Patsy Gray and husband, Jimmy, of Brandon, Cathie Miller, and husband, Gary, of Tupelo; one son, Mack Hankins and wife, Sue, of Mooreville; a sister, Elizabeth McCollum of Nettleton; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Hezie Chy Hankins; her second husband, Wayne Scott; her son, Larry David Hankins; five sisters and two brothers.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
