Mildred Pearce

MOOREVILLE - Mildred Morgan Pearce, 85, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born March 1, 1923, to the late John W. and Tennessee Carnathan Morgan. A graduate of Mooreville High School, she was salutatorian of her 1940 graduating class. She was All State guard in basketball for her brother Aaron Morgan's team. She later attended Derry Berry Business School. She was a member of Mooreville United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher and secretary/treasurer for many years. She worked in the Lee County Circuit Clerk's office for 25 years and served as Circuit Clerk for eight years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Robert McCoy and the Rev. Sammy Washburn officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Pearce (Kay) of Mooreville and Rick Pearce (Pam) of Southlake, Texas; five grandchildren, Craig Pearce (Jean) of Mooreville, Kristi Tutor (Jeremy) of Ecru, Jason Pearce (Kristin) of Keller, Texas, Morgan Pearce of Frisco, Texas, and Grant Pearce of Fort Worth,Texas; five great-grandchildren, Rob Winters, Landon and John Garrett Tutor, Audrey and Natalie Pearce.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, J.B. Pearce; her parents; one grandchild, Steven Van Pearce; one sister and six brothers.

Pallbearers will be Craig Pearce, Jason Pearce, Morgan Pearce, Grant Pearce, Jeremy Tutor and Bill Morgan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Garrett, Clyde Morgan, Arvis Gillentine, Bud Estes and Milford Justice.

Memorials may be made to Mooreville United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
